Use this tool to compare a child with the father and/or mother using available ISAG genetic markers. It helps assess genetic parentage compatibility, identifies missing markers, highlights mismatch markers, and checks the sex marker when present in the laboratory data.
This parentage checker can be used for dogs, cats and horses when valid analysis numbers are available. Enter the child analysis number and at least one parent analysis number to run the comparison.
Run a parentage compatibility check
How the parentage comparison works
The tool retrieves the data linked to each submitted analysis number and compares the child profile with the available parent profiles through the corresponding marker values. It then checks whether the child shares compatible alleles with the father and/or the mother at comparable markers.
At least one parent analysis number is required.
The child analysis number is mandatory.
Missing markers are reported when a child marker is not available in a parent profile.
Mismatch markers are reported when comparable alleles do not overlap.
If both parents are provided, the tool verifies that the offspring inherits one allele from each parent at shared markers.
Frequently asked questions
What does the genetic identification and parentage tool check?
It compares the child with the father and/or mother using comparable ISAG markers, reports missing markers, mismatch markers and sex verification information when available.
Can I use only one parent analysis number?
Yes. You can compare the child against only the father or only the mother if only one parent analysis number is available.
Why can the tool return no conclusion?
A no-conclusion result usually means there are not enough comparable markers or too much missing information between the submitted profiles.
What is checked in the sex verification step?
When the sex marker is available in the data, the tool checks whether the father is XY and whether the mother is XX before running the parentage comparison.
